A fine poet once said, “If I’m not ahead, I’m behind.” He means that for his business, too, knowing that if he’s not looking forward and making trends, not just following them, he won’t be able to keep up. Customers demand more than technology, which changes daily, if not hourly. They want cutting-edge solutions that stay ahead of any potential problems.
That’s what CrescentLink’s future does. While some GIS-enriched mapping programs are plug-and-play tools that do the work for the client, CrescentLink’s engineers strive for more than that. Yes, CrescentLink’s network-mapping applications do plenty of heavy-lifting, but the program and its future come with much more than that: namely, add-ons that give clients more power to use the tool better.
For instance, CrescentLink’s design-and-staking package allows users to estimate costs and produce construction drawings IN ADDITION to the network management that CrescentLink already provides. Part of the staking package includes the materials catalog, which is used for engineering and design; the catalog allows clients to assimilate construction packages, as well as estimate costs faster and more easily.
In other words, CrescentLink is working on a tool that tells clients how CrescentLink not only saves money but ultimately pays for itself and, eventually, creates revenue-generating opportunities.
Take CrescentLink’s HFC Design Tool. The tool will allow traditional cable companies to manage and design networks. Until now, CrescentLink simply managed the facilities already in place, while other software programs were used for the actual design. Now CrescentLink is becoming a one-stop tool for engineering AND management for all utilities.
Next, CrescentLink additionally gives clients the opportunity to manage third-party traffic on the facilities they own. Many fiber companies lease “dark fiber” to school districts, banks, manufacturers, long-haul carriers and the like. Now, CrescentLink’s circuit/lease management will let clients manage the circuits they own and track revenues and cost.
While creating a stronger, more powerful program that does more than just heavy lifting for a client network, CrescentLink continues to improve the tool itself, through the Equipment Template Manager, which makes the software even easier to use.
All of these components work to keep CrescentLink on the forefront. And that’s staying ahead. Because nobody wants to be left behind.
